Saccharine Nightmare is a short film that follows Mason, a 20-something college graduate that is grief stricken by his failed attempts at romantic love. He attends a Valentine’s Day party with his best friend Cheryl in hopes of reuniting with his long-time crush, Harvey. Missing his presence and questioning the existence of love, he gets intoxicated unbeknownst to the consequences that are soon to follow.
I was brought on to design two posters for the film, capturing the feel of a 1950s vintage Valentine’s Day party. I leaned into an illustrated style for the first poster and was inspired by retro chocolate heart boxes for the second to reflect the film’s romantic and comedic tone.
